Training & Nutrition
Nutrition
It is important to understand what energy and nutrients provide the body and which foods are good sources of energy and nutrition to help you build the correct diet to maximise your performance.
Food is generally made up of carbohydrate, fat, minerals, protein, vitamins and water.
Water
Poor fluid intake may lead to dehydration which causes fatigue and lack of concentration leading to poor performance. Water is a fine choice for most workouts, however during continuous workouts your body may benefit from sports drinks designed to help hydrate you and optimize performance. A good sports drink will include carbohydrate, sodium and water in it's ingredients.
On course and prior to competition
A round of competitive golf can take up to 5 hours, and will very often cause you to miss a meal. To preform well, concentration and focus is vital. It is therefore important to plan fueling your body prior to and during your round of golf. Good sources of carbohydrate are bread, pasta, rice, breakfast cereal, milk, honey and fruit. When playing food in the golf bag may include; bananas, jaffa cakes, low fat snacks, cereal bars, dried fruit with nuts.
So a good balanced diet that is well structured can help to improve performance
